| Current City of Sierra Vista Airport Newsletter: May 5th, 2010 Airport Commission: The next Airport Commission meeting will be on Wednesday, the 12th of May in the Airport Terminal Building beginning at 5:30 PM. Please notify us in advance if you need any special arrangements.
Airfield Projects: The Taxiway Juliet Realignment and Runway 12/30 Overlay projects will continue until the end of June 2010. ALWAYS check NOTAM’s before taxiing around the airfield.
The Self Fuel Project in underway with a projected completion date of June 2010. The system will hold 5,000 gallons of Avgas, be available 24/7, will accept most major credit cards. And for those who don’t want to fill their own aircraft, the existing service will still be available. Keep posted for updates!
Hangar Billing By E-Mail: As of the June billing cycle, the option will be available to receive your bill through email. If you would like to use this option, please send your e-mail address to: Angela.Loucks@sierravistaaz.gov. She will need an email address for you by 05-31-10.
Vision Statement Draft:
The following DRAFT Sierra Vista Municipal Airport (SVMA) Vision Statement is now available for public review.
“The VISION for the Sierra Vista Municipal Airport (SVMA) is to be a model for joint-use military, commercial and general aviation. Business entrepreneurs will experience a proactive and flexible management atmosphere with a demonstrated willingness to attract new ventures. Visitors will want to return because of the airport’s friendly, service-oriented atmosphere, attractive and accessible facilities, variety of on-site services, and convenient access to nearby attractions. Local citizens will look upon SVMA with community pride as the “Crown Jewel” of aviation facilities in southeast Arizona.”
Interested individuals are encouraged to send their comments by June 1, 2010, to: Jon Nelson at jvnalaska@aol.com.
Airfield Closed Areas: There seems to be some confusion about the closed areas around the airfield. Here is a partial list of closed areas: 1. East Juliet Taxiway is closed. 2. The Large Aircraft Ramp west of the access road is closed. 3. Runway 12/30 is closed. 4. Taxiway Golf is closed.
There will be a map of the airfield and all closed areas posted in the Pilot Lounge. It is your responsibility to check NOTAM’s before your flight.
These areas are closed because of construction equipment and FOD on the taxiways and ramp area. Please don’t taxi around the construction barricades; you could cause damage to your aircraft or others.
Fire Season It’s that time of year again! Please be aware there could be delays getting fuel to you. I have hired two people for the season. Mike Geesling is going to Cochise College to be a pilot and will be working weekends. Eldon Cook is back to help us! Stop by and say hi to the new folks!
